Are Peptide Eye Creams Worth the Price?

Moisturising effects are real. Wrinkle removal is not. Many studies compare the product with nothing at all.

What the claim says

Creams containing signal peptides are advertised to firm and smooth the delicate skin around the eyes.

What the evidence shows

Brand-sponsored studies often show small improvements in smoothness. Most compare the cream with no treatment, so any moisturiser would likely look similar. Independent head-to-head trials are rare.

Questions worth asking

  • Was there a control cream without the peptide?
  • Were raters blinded to which side was treated?
  • Was the study run outside the company?
A good moisturiser makes skin look smoother for a few hours. That is not peptide magic.

Verdict

Weak for the specific peptide claim, though moisturising itself is useful.

Bottom line

  • Hydration is the effect you can count on.
  • Sunscreen and retinoids have stronger evidence.
  • Price does not track results.
